step-by-step guide to clean your washing machine (works for both front-load and top-load machines):
White vinegar (or washing machine cleaner)
Baking soda
Microfiber cloth
Old toothbrush
Warm water
Front-load / Top-load:
Run an empty hot water cycle with 2 cups of white vinegar (pour into the drum).
After that, run another cycle with ½ cup of baking soda to remove odors and loosen residue.
If using a store-bought washing machine cleaner, follow the instructions on the packet.
Remove the drawer (if detachable).
Soak in warm soapy water, scrub with an old toothbrush, and rinse well.
Wipe the compartment where the drawer sits (mold often grows here).
Gently pull back the rubber door seal.
Wipe with a cloth dipped in vinegar + water solution (1:1).
Remove any lint, coins, or gunk stuck inside.
Dry thoroughly to prevent mold.
Locate the filter (usually at the bottom front of front-load machines).
Place a towel and bowl under it before opening.
Remove lint, hair, and debris, then rinse the filter with warm water.
Wipe the area before fixing it back.

Use a damp cloth with mild soap to clean the outside body, knobs, and display.
Don’t forget the door and handle.
Leave the door open after each wash to let the drum dry and prevent mold.
Wipe the rubber gasket weekly.
Deep clean once a month (or every 2 months if lightly used).
Use the right detergent in the right amount (too much causes buildup).
