After 34 years, Captain Prabhakaran was digitally restored and re-released in 4K with 7.1 surround sound across over 500 screens in Tamil Nadu on August 22, 2025, just ahead of Vijayakanth’s birthday.
The re-release rekindled emotional memories among fans and family. His son Vijaya Prabhakaran and wife Premalatha were visibly moved during screenings.
The remastered version includes an enhanced soundscape and polished visuals, reaffirming its legendary status for both longtime and new audiences
