Adopted: 3 December 1959 (when Singapore achieved self-governance).
Designer: A committee led by Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Toh Chin Chye.
Official proportions: 2:3 (height to length).
It’s flown alongside the state crest and national anthem as one of the key national symbols.
