Škoda Auto experienced strong global and European sales growth in the first half of 2025, becoming Europe's third-largest car brand, driven by high demand for its electric and plug-in hybrid models like the Elroq and Kodiaq. In India, the launch of the compact SUV Škoda Kylaq has significantly boosted sales, becoming the brand's top seller and driving substantial year-on-year growth, while traditional models like the Kushaq have seen a decline in sales due to the Kylaq's success. Despite past supply chain issues, the company is focusing on expanding its international presence and strengthening its hold in key markets like India.

Global & European Trends (2025)

  • Strong Growth:

In the first half of 2025, Škoda Auto delivered over 509,000 vehicles globally, a 13.6% increase from the previous year.

  • European Leadership:

The brand became the third-best-selling car brand in Europe, outperforming the market and aiming to stay in the top three by the end of the decade.

  • EV & PHEV Demand:

Strong demand for electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid (PHEVs) was a key driver, with models like the Elroq and Kodiaq contributing significantly to this success.

  • Elroq's Success:

The new Elroq compact SUV is highly popular in Europe, with over 45,000 orders by March 2025 and increased EV sales ambitions for the brand.

India Market Trends (2025)

  • Kylaq Dominance:

The newly launched Skoda Kylaq compact SUV has been the primary driver of growth, becoming the brand's top-selling vehicle and achieving significant year-on-year sales increases.

  • Kylaq's Market Position:

The Kylaq is the most affordable model from Skoda in India, selling 3,377 units in August 2025 and accounting for 61% of Skoda's gross sales, according to Spinny.

  • Shift from Kushaq:

The success of the Kylaq has led to a decline in sales for the Kushaq, another compact SUV.

  • Sales Momentum:

Following a record-breaking 2022 and a challenging but resilient 2023 due to supply issues, Skoda India's sales have shown strong recovery and continued momentum.

Škoda's Strategic Moves

  • Internationalization:

The company is expanding its international footprint with a new assembly plant in Vietnam and entry into the Omani market.

  • Product Updates:

Skoda has focused on enhancing its products, particularly by introducing special editions and new features for models like the Kushaq and Slavia to meet customer demand.
